Here is my fruit fly culturing technique from start to finish, enjoy.
Send it to John and he can make it an official article.
Thanks Kurt. I'll do that.
You're welcome.
Thank you for this. Up until recently I've always been very afraid of culturing fruit flies, but after reading this, and working with the culture that I got from silkwormshop I think this can easily be done.
Should I start fruit fly culturing for a red eyed tree frog?
It depends upon the size of the frog you are getting.
Just to let everyone know, we worked on Paul's original article (attached to this thread) and we have made a much more detailed and informative Care Article out of it, which can be viewed here: http://www.frogforum.net/care-articl...rosophila.html

scratch pads=those green cleaning pads or like a velvet type material? just something that lets air through but not moisture out?
I got mold my first tries... Then I added some vinegar to the water on the next cultures and have been mold free since (:

Thanks it did work. As the post stated, there are many ways to make a culture. Fruit flies are
easy to raise. I don't use excelsior as it brings in mites. As long as I use something else
(corr. cardboard) I don't have a mite problem, I also set all cultures on mite paper just in case.
