    Default Fire belly wont eat!!!

I just got a fire belly 3 days ago in a 7.5gallon tank... you can see the video here

YouTube - My 1/2 and 1/2 terrarium frog set up. 30 gallon saltwater tank 10gallon fresh and 40 gallon fresh

(also has my other fish tanks)

I have offered him meal worms and crickets. At the store they fed him small crickets. I have offered him small and large crickets. I cant leave the crickets in there with him because its 75% water, so I grab them by the tip of the leg with skinny tweezers. They still squiggle and move but when I offer to Tila my FBT she hops away. I got 2 green tree frogs yesterday in a 10gallon tall tank (going to post a video today, looks very cool) and they took the crickets instantly!, (their tank is pure land btw)

    Thanks in advance!

What's the temp and humidity in the cage? It also could be that you just got her too. I've had frogs that went a few days before they started eating, and some right away. Have you tried just dropping a few crickets in there without the tweezers? That could the problem as well, as I doubt at the store they were feeding it with tweezers.

I would (that's what I did for my tree frogs) but my tank is 75% water like it shows in the video and all the crickets would fall in

Feed them in another container. They are not going to take food from forceps untill they settle in, so place them in a Rubbermaid boxes with crickets.

Like I said it may take time for them to get settled in. My FBTs know when it's feeding time so all I have to do is drop them in the tank. You can always try some worms in the tank as well while they get settled in.

He is the fattest one the pet shop has, he's pretty chunky. I'm assuming it's just being new in the tank, at least I hope

I want to try this with my FBTs, as I'm not convinced they are all getting their fair share of hoppers etc.

Is it ok to catch them with hands , & if so do you wear latex gloves or just live dangerously & make sure you wash hands after??

Also do you put anything else in the 'feed box' ie hides, or water??

You can free handle them, no problem. Just make sure there are no soap or other residues on your hands when you do. There is no need for hide boxes when you are feeding.
