My most recent (almost) finished project: Custom water dish for my Giant African Bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus) setup. The look I'm going for here is a muddy puddle in a flooded African grassland. I screwed up a lot working on this one, so it took me longer than it should have, but I'm pretty happy with the end result. I definitely have a new appreciation for the art of aquarium/terrarium design and construction, and the challenges of balancing realism, aesthetics, and functionality. Photos of the completed setup will be coming soon.
that is very cool! did you test it yet to see how long it holds water for? with all that cocofiber, it is going to wick up a lot of moisture, essentially draining it. but you did an awesome job on it!!

Thanks very much. I did test it, and it holds water for days, until water evaporates. I found a solution to the wicking problem by applying a layer of clear 5 min. epoxy to the inside of the dish (over sand) and filling water to just under that line. (There's no water in the dish in the picture I posted, just the shiny epoxy)
BTW it's sand, not cocofiber.
my bad when i clicked it the first time, it never enlarged.....stupid computer....lol but even sand wicks moisture

Right, but with a layer of epoxy over the sand, it doesn't wick. (sorry, not sure if that was clear)
no, it was. in fact, i have advised many people to do it that way to avoid just that issue.
