My boyfriend dropped off the poo to the vet. He asked the doc what her change of recovery was and he gave her a 75% chance of a full recovery!!
I know it's been a few days but I have to tell you. She had more energy tonight for her feeding than I have seen in a very long time. Her color was amazing too! Haven't seen this color in a while either! I've been trying to feed her every other night, the first night was reptiboost crickets which was what, 5-6 days ago at 2 crickets? The second was multi-vitamin at 3 crickets, and tonight reptiboost, and I only managed to get 1 in there, I thought she was choking and I couldn't get her to hold still. I did pick up some liquid multi-vitamin and added it to her water, it says 2 drops per 50 g, so I did barely a drop. I put 2 crickets in last night and I think they either escaped and drowned in the water that keeps pooling around the bottom of the tank, or she actually ate them. I'll check in the morning. I will post pictures below and you can SEE the improvemet. I don't want to get too excited, but it's been a while since I've seen her like this. She actually jumped quite a bit while she was out too, she climbed up my wall, my arm and all around my hands. such a cutie. I feel a heavy weight slowly being lifted off my shoulders and heart!
Smallest hospital tank ever! He said restricted movement as much as possible.
I haven't seen her so green in so long!
I'm not sure what happened, but I thought she was choking on the cricket! she crawled up my arm and started squeezing herself and acted like she was going to throw up, then after a minute or two of crapping my pants she puffed her self out as large as possible and because OVERLY slimey...
Just thought to shared the best news in the world!
Hope your little Laputa heals up soon. Lynn is giving you good advice, do follow it. If frog starts eating by herself then it's a progress because even gentle handling is not going to help the broken bone mending. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
I think she's coming along well. I think I'm going to take her to the vet next week to make sure she is healing well. I fed her 3 crickets 3 days ago and I still have yet to see poo... I'm not sure if I should be concerned....?
For your aqua safe i use the same thing, its 10 drops to 1 gallon.
That's great news, glad to hear she's on the mend!
As far as the poo, didn't your boyfriend drop off a sample 3 days ago (above post). Every 3 days or so for a green frog to have a bowel movement is pretty normal....
Did the results come back from the vet from the sample?
1.1.0 White's Treefrog
1.0.0 Red Eyed Leaf Frog
I haven't heard back yet on the poo sample. She poo'd in her water last night. It was very... "Grainy" looking as far as what was floating all over the water. I really think the vitamin and calcium additives in her water are helping. She puts up such a fight now when I try to hand feed her. I have these beetles I get with the crickets I order. Can I try to feed those to her?

Sorry Lynn, I got side tracked and didn't answer. They are black larvae beetles. I believe they turn into the worms that are supposed to eat my crickets poo. They have hard shells so I will assume no, I don't need her to have digestion problems.
So I figured an update would be great since Laputa is doing sooo good!
I haven't gotten a call back from the vet about the poo, so I will just assume no news is good news. Last week some time I think around saturday or sunday(?) I saw her eat her own cricket so I left her alone for a few days only to change her water but after that she just wouldn't eat, I left the crickets in there but the same amount stayed. I did continue to switch off her water from calcium to multi-vitamin additives, I really think they help her. I force fed her some reptiboost yesterday morning and I put 4 crickets in there before I went to bed at 1 am this morning, and all 4 were gone! I watched her eat 1 since I threw it infront of her, made me happy, she did a BIG poo too last night so I think her digestive system is good to go. She seems to be moving around OK so I put her in a slightly bigger hospital tank, she keeps laying on the floor usually half on her side or squished up between the corner and the water bowl I have in there. I made an appointment for next wednesday just to make sure her leg is healing perfectly, I don't see the bulge from her bone anymore when she walks and she seems to be able to keep her leg up, so maybe in a few weeks she'll be able to move into her new tank! I've been so anxious to get her into her new 18x18x24 tank with PLENTY of hiding spaces. Petsmart had a tropical 8 piece set on clearance from $40 down to $10.
Thats all the good news for now! Thank you everyone for all your help!
Great news, hope Laputa fully recovers soon !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Just out of curiosity... My lil' Laputa must be getting better because this is the second night I've held her, just letting her sit on my fingers or palm and she keeps spitting water out her butt at me! I've never seen her do this in the 4 months I've had her... does she suck up water just so she can shoot it at me when I hold her/feed her?
I know it's only been 2 days, but I'm super excited at how much better she is getting! She is eating 4-5 crickets A NIGHT now, all on her own and poo'ing everyday! She's much MUCH more active than she has been in the last 3 months! I have an appointment scheduled for Wednesday to make sure her leg is doing good, and hopefully she'll get a FULL clean bill of health and I can let her loose in her new 18x18x24" home. Althought, something odd that I've found is that she refuses to jump out of her hospital tank when I have the lid off... maybe she likes the hospital tank?
So Laputa went to the Vet Friday, she is bright green now!!
So yay for that!! She went about a week or so with eating 4-5 crickets a night, then the last 4-5 days, she's eating nothing, so the doctor said I need to just keep doing what I'm doing. I fed her the reptiboost last night with the B12 he gave her, so we'll see how well she does. I figured she was doing well enough I might let her out in her tank during the day and put her back in the hospital container at night so I'll know if she is eating or not. Is this a good idea to do or should I just keep her in the hospital tank? Her leg is pretty much healed, she is jumping around (away from me) and climbing perfectly fine, I'm just not sure how long I need to keep her in the hosp tank?
She really wants out... I do let her roam her new tank while I clean her hosp tank though.
Did the Dr. take more Xrays?
so is she using her leg?
Thanks for letting us know. I was beginning to wonder.
He didn't take any more x-rays. I thought he would, but he looked at her leg, she jumped onto him, she climbed, there was no bulge in her leg like there was the first few days her leg was broken. She's been jumping and climbing for a while now for me. I'd say she is ready for a bigger home, but the eating thing is still an issue.
That is good to hear about the leg.
