Default Your opinion on this debree...

been noticing a little build up on the wood in my tank and i wanted to get your guys opinion. im assuming the dark buildup is some kind of excrement from either my spring tails or some other bugs inhabiting the tank. its growing thicker and if its something to be worried about i want to have it taken care of soon since i will be ordering my frogs shortly. the wood is suppose to be a non-rotting wood, its Cyprus i believe so im sure its not that but i just cant figure this one out. its consistency is very fine. like picking up a water soaked ant hill. it has no odor

ive also been removing many centipedes lately. the small stinky ones that like to curl up when you touch them. could there be some relation there? thanks ahead of time. o and 10 bucks deranged is the first to comment this

Hello Adam! Would need to see it closer, but from picture, it appears to be a fungi growth and it's probably living off wood. Other than aesthetics, don't think it can do harm in enclosure. I'm not a vivarium expert, so let's wait and see what others say .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

i'm with Carlos, it looks like a fungus coming from the cyprus. shouldn't harm anything. sorry, i was a bit busy at work yesterday, otherwise, i probably would have been the first to chime in.....lol

I did enlarge it to max size. That clump on the mid-left is a fungal type growth. If you don't like it can scrape off, but that is not going to make it go away. Sometimes those fungi are part of vivarium cycle process and go away by themselves.
