I currently keep a 25w water heat in my adult pyxie's water basin. Keeps it in the low 80s at all times. I've always thought it helps him digest. Does anyone else do this? Is heated water absolutely neccessary?

Two items I would pay attention to when heating a Pixie water side is: that the heater is rated for the actual water volume; and that the frog can't access the heater's electric cable and bite it .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

I have a small fish tank heater in the water. The submergible kind. Only turns on when the water temp goes below 76 and turns off when it's 78. Most of the time, it's not even on cause the water doesn't really get that cold to begin with.

If you use a heater make sure to get a rubber or plastic one, and not a glass one for fish only. You don't want your frog dying from an IED blast because he knocked the heater of the water.
