Default How many FBT can I have in a 10 gallon tank?

I am sure this question is on here and I tried searching for it but nothing really answers my question. I was reading the care sheet and it says "A 40 L (10 US gallon) aquarium could comfortably accommodate 5 or 6 toads." Now everything I have seen gives me mixed information. I have seen 2 per 10 g and I have seen 3 per 10 g but this is saying up to 6....So what is it? I do want more but I also don't want to crowd the tank. I know they are communal and I do kind of feel bad that these two are all alone. THanks for the help in advance!

also could someone tell me where I could look if I am missing one. I have a Houdini that is no where to be found!

It is a good rule of thumb to have 4-5 gallons per frog. I have 2 in a ten gallon, but 3 or 4 MAX. Make sure you don't put any other species with them, besides other bombina

    I agree, 4 max for a 10 Gal, I have 5 in my 20L Aquatic Enclosure.

FBT's can either get out of tank, or get stuck between decor or filters. Recommend get flashlight and look into any crevice in tank. If stuck underwater for long it could drown. If not in tank look around house floor. An FBT loose in a house with pets or small kids can become a serious problem. Good luck finding it !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

I just went through the very same thing, I was going crazy looking for my fat male. I did just like carlos said, I scoured the tank from all angle with a very good strong flash light and I finally got a glimpse of hit front foot between to pieces o slate.

I have 4 fbts in a 10 gallon, and that's pushing it. I would do 3 in a 10 gal. Mine sometimes get into nasty fights. They will be moving to a 29 gal soon though!

Update: found the booger. Came out to eat in the big tank. I assume she was hiding in the filter house.

    Whatcha think?

Do y'all think that is enough land area. Also, I have one that is multicolored. Tan and green. I changed the light to a fluorescent and the slate is all grey. Will that green him up or am I stuck with a multicolored lol.

He might stay if he likes more land. It's about finding a happy medium between all the frogs, really.

Are you going to give them some plants? Greenery will also encourage them to be brighter to blend for hunting.

Are you removing your guys to feed them? The only crickets I've seen swim around forever and survive are the large ones...

Plenty of land. I would put some greenery in there too.

And no I don't remove the crickets. All of them hunt at different time. They will be gone by the morning.

I know I just posted but I am just astonished no more than 5 minutes after I added the plants...they went bonkers, started to explore and play. I am amazed. And of course I have pictures!

Btw what would max be for a 20 wide? I would like to have 6 in total, to have a small army. Lol
