No, I'm lining the bottom with a waterproof tarp that extends a few inches up the sides, then great stuff, then more silicone.

and that's it????? remember, silicone is a sealant, not a sealer. odds are high the wood will absorb a lot of moisture with only silicone.

Ok. I'll keep that in mind. What would you suggest?

Ivan is correct, marine epoxy or spar urethane would keep moisture out of the wood. silicone will only cover the surface of the wood. either of the two i mentioned will actually penetrate the wood and seal it from any humidity/moisture. that's the difference between a sealer and a sealant. a sealant will only seal a surface, but a sealant penetrates. if a sealant gets a small nick in it, all bets are off. i would definitely seal the edges of the glass with silicone, but any and all wood surfaces, i would seal with marine epoxy reinforced with fiberglass mesh between the first and second layers.

    Default Curio Cabinet Mod

This was the main reason I wimped out and did not try my cabinet. Let me know how it turns out. I've got a large dining room china cabinet I got some time ago just lingering downstairs that I never did because I figured I could not safely waterproof it.
