Ok well this is just something IŽd like to run by people
I am used to keeping toads, specially Cane toads and I noticed that it was quite easy to tell the male from the female by their back ends.
So I had a look through the photos here of people asking if they had male or females.
Going by your comments for each photo, I think the same applies to African Bullfrogs, maybe even Pacman frogs (which I looked through also).
Can you all see if you think it is true also? Males definitely have bony/some skinnier bottoms, they are not so full. Seems an easier way than looking at
head size.
In provided pics your theory holds well. I've used head size and shape to tell African Bullfrog sex in the past. Will start looking at frog bottoms to see how it goes. Guess this would be easier if we had a bunch available to compare at same time.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
I had a look through the posted photos here, some are from above or at an angle.
Also I had a look at some in yahoo images where it listed the sex of the frog.
I know for certain with Cane toads it works and I have Natterjack toads, same thing there.
I just thought it was worth a mention.
We need more photos!!!!
It is their tailbone isnŽt it...definite difference.
I checked my frog, a female. She's got the round bottom. Seems this method of sexing may be valid!
My male's bottom is more rounded.
I looked at your feeding video the shape of his butt is more viewable there.
If you look you will see as he moves...his spine, like a tail end.
In the 2nd photo there is a slight V, but very small.
Yes, very sure he's male; he croaks (and used to keep me up with it!).
I adore the croak, mine does it now and then but not enough for me
