Thread: My Purdy Red Eyed

    Default My Purdy Red Eyed

Of all my Red eyeds, this one is my favorite. I love how the markings along his side is so refined. I don't see many like that.

What exactly do you mean? I wasnt aware that these guys were often bred with other species. Or are different localities bred together?

well obviously its the same species...but there are many different localities and different genes. EYE COLOR / Shades/ Body color will all change if you mix the genes. ALL my frogs dont have that bold of shades... SO whoever gave them this frog breeds within the same blood line. OR it was photo edited

Thanks all. I definitely got lucky with this one. I've honestly never seen one with that bold of color/markings. It's definitely not photo edited or anything.

Reptile Rapture in Madison (Monona), WI. It's just a reptile/amphibian store. He doesn't breed them, he just buys captive bred animals from breeders and sells them I believe.

Not sure how I can prove it isn't photoshopped/edited, but here's another pic in different lighting.

    VooDoo,
He is a beautiful frog. He's yours............. now !
However, I would have to say that his coloration leads me to believe his is WC.
Range: Central America: Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama
I have information regarding the variation in flank color and location -somewhere.
I will post it ( here ) when I find it. If I find it ?

I think ( not sure / with out checking ) the darker blue appears on the flank---- further north in their natural range.

    Default My Purdy Red Eyed

What a gorgeous frog! Absolutely beautiful markings. If you can get some super clear shots of him I'd love to put a couple on my wall if that'd be okay with you. Possible opposite angles or sides? With your signature, of course. I'd even buy them if you can get them clear enough. He is perfect . You're so lucky!

I agree with heather... Its honestly the best looking RED eye i have ever seen. Unfortunately my house is already filled with red eye tree frog photos...posters...tiles....lights.... pencils. I wont need anything more... But i would love to find out and get to know that breeder.

And that's possible I suppose. They were listed as CB in the store tho.

Heather, I will definitely see what I can do. I have a friend who's big into photography, and he's been wanting to photograph my red eyeds and my leachie. As soon as I get better pics I'll post them here, and you can do what want with them. No need for my signature or anything like that. And if he can't get around to it soon, I'll see what I can do with my other camera.

Thanks again everybody for your kind words.

I saw that the other day when I was in. I bought my frogs about a year and a half ago. And the frogs at that time were advertised as CP. AT least that's how they were marked and that's what he said. He's always been good with labeling his animals honestly, so...
