California Toad Advice/Care

I know I posted recently, but I have new questions. I found a sick toad tonight and he has some scars so I want to keep him since it looks like he's had a hard life. Is there anything I should now that is not as well known? Of course, all of this depends on if he lives, but I'm going to start treating him for what looks like an eye infection as soon as I possibly can. I've never had a toad but I have helped sick toads before and kept them for about a day or two. Also, are there any plants that they seem to like to give them coverage and make it feel more natural for them? I wanted to give him a night to rest so I'll get him out and post photos tomorrow of his eyes. Thank you in advance to anyone that responds!
