    Default Exo Terra 36 x 18 36

Thinking about getting the Exo Terra 36 x 18 x 36 for the 3 WTF, but my concern is being able to keep the humidity & temps up for them. Looking to see if others have this size, or would it be better to get the 36 x 18 x 24 instead. They are now in the 18 x 18 x 24 but seem to be outgrowing this, at least to me it seems that way.

    Hi Gail,
    I have my red eyeds in the 36H x 18 x 36W and my black eyeds in the 36H x 18 x 24W.
They are great! I have the screen tops VERY covered.
    Hard to explain.
I would be happy to take a pic of both tops for you

So just keeping the top covered with towels or whatever will be enough to keep the humidity up for them. Since it's such a high enclosure I wasn't sure it just covering the top would help keep the % up, yet still keep the air moving so it doesn't become stale. I just haven't seen many of the 36 x 18 x 36 on this site or even other sites, and I've looked in LOTS of places.
I just don't want to invest into that kind of money then end up being disappointed in it. I would LOVE to see your set-ups on this size.

    Hi Gail,
I have photos in 3 different albums of these two 36"H enclosures.
These tall tanks are both harder to keep the humidity up and more so........ the heat.
I have the tops -mostly-covered with plexi. I run a mist king. ( 3 mist heads in each)
I run (a dual) computer fan - on a timer.
The tanks are side be side ; I place the fan over the 2 small areas left open.
I have a larger area covered in the winter than in the summer ( my tanks are in my basement- it's chilly)

Note- I do not use background ( the outside of the glass is painted in several areas)
They are both very heavily planted -so plant lights surround the tanks/ and above.
I heat w/ heat cables - the cables are 50 watt- but place an inch below the tanks under the shelf the tanks are
sitting on. Nor do I use soil substrate in my tree frog enclosures. I use fleece fabric that is soaked in de-chlorinated
water ( it holds a ton of water- I go through 6 gallons a week). Therefore, the bottom of my tanks are cleaned 3 times
a week when I change out the fabric.

there are additional photos in separate albums- hope this helps

Thanks Lynn. This might work for me, but I'll be keeping mine in the living room so keeping the temp up should not be a problem. Awesome vivs you have also.
