I got rumper 9 months ago and he was a teeny tiny thing, this first picture shows him on day 1
After that he continued to grow, a scary time in which he refused to eat for 2 months came and went and he started eating again several months ago, now he looks like this
and a few more pictures
and his current setup
hm.... it seems Rumper is a she actually very pretty! you changed the set up did you? i need to do something like that too. i loved your previous one though. what filter are you using and how frequent are you changing water?
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Lol....stranger things have happened, but just going off looks, that is 100% female. If its calling its a male. No other explanation. Don't want to nay say, but I'll bet 20 bucks that's a female and you are hearing something else. Get video with sound of course.

That's the thing though, it looks like a female, but it calls every few nights does 3-4 croaks and then before i can get the camera it stops, i am 100 percent sure its the frog making the noise. i know females make noise but this is the frogs own doing and not some fear reaction. does anyone have a sample of the female sound i keep hearing about.
Looks like a girl to me or the strangest obease male with the smallest head to body ratio I've ever seen lol, looks like the forarms are a little slim two. Here is my boy
even puffed out it is a girl.
or transgender may be with a lot of make up and sparkles type, hm......

sounds like the frog in this video, does it 3-5 times 4 seconds apart or so, do females make a noise like this on there own and unprovoked? i dont care if its a male or a female i just wanna know for sure so i can figure out what to call him/her. also more likely to do it when the fogger is on.
My African Bullfrog Bugsy Croaking - YouTube
Looks like a boy to me, just puffed up in response to being disturbed.
and here is a feeding video
my 9 month old Pyxie frog eating crickets HD - YouTube
Looks like a healthy girl to me, head is to small, maby a adolescent male but not a 9 month old, here is my male at around 4 months right when his head exploded with growth before his body. I guess it could be a very feminin boy but I doubt it, try catching the croaks on a recording and post them. The frog croaking in that clip is a juvenile boy that's why it's a higher pitch, a 9 month old boy produces quite a bellow lol
Well if you are hearing him croak then it is deff a boy. I don't really agree with everyone thinking an African Bullfrog has to be a set size or very wide mouth to be a male, I will post a picture of the AFB I purchased back in 2005 and it is positively a male, its no more than 6.5 inches long and has a very narrow mouth.
I don't think everyone is implying "set size" or "mouth width" Even though I have to admit, the pictures are difficult to judge. Females CAN make noises under the substrate, even without being bothered. From what has been said though by the OP, it's a male, just more on the "unique" side, if you will. =)
The picture you posted of your smallish male does have a broader head than OP's.
I personally enjoy how this species varies greatly in looks and personality.
I'm not disagreeing btw with anything you posted, just adding my .02
EDIT: also looking at the pics once again, OP's frog does have large front legs (a male trait).
ok here is a video of it in the morning when he/she is not puffed up, woke up this morning to the croaking noises it makes
