Ok so the Viv has been up and growing for almost 2 weeks. And now my perfectly pre-santized tank is growing MOLD. I have read many times on here that mold, for the most part is ok and will go away. Here are some pics of the nasty little tank invaders ...
.
It is whitish in color with a hint of greenish maybe?
Now the reason I'm freaking - I swear I have MOLD PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) thanks to Katrina. I have seen more species of mold than any normal person ever should ( Lost our house and came home to all my favorite things in the world covered with what looked like a mold splatter paint collage - ::shiver:yucky:: brings back horrible memories).
So , I may be over exaggerating, but should I take my pretty branch and bendy vine out, and clean them really well and re-bake the branch?? Or even break down the oasis and start over? Should I be freaking that my little southern oasis is contaminated??
On a side note I am getting Isopods and Springtails hopefully this weekend or at the latest, next week.
Sincerely,
Having a MOLD FREAK OUT
Lisa
PS if you have questions about the viv setup...

Awesome. Sounds like your viv is cycling like it should. all the baking and bleaching in the world won't prevent it from happening. might as well get use to it if your going to be keeping frogs. I just had a nice mold outbreak on some wood in a viv that's been up and running for 6 -8 months. only mold i worry about is in my ff cultures. Get the springs going in there and take a deep breath. All will be fine.

Thanks for all the great advice and calming suggestions. Down here when we see mold, we bleach it lol. So with yalls advice, I will let nature take is course. And add a cleaning crew aka isos and springs!

Yep, they are right. White mold is fine and will die off soon. It may cycle through intermittently. Keep your branches in. Your little house keepers will keep things in check . Think...white mold, okay.....black mold, bad.

Iv had pumpkin orange, greenish , yellow and even a sort of lavender colored mold as well and it went away after a month or so. The orange had me worried for awhile because it was super thick and heavy duty and lasted a LONG time. It was everywhere including on the foam background. I could literally tear it out like carpet.
I have to admit if I started seeing all those colors, I'd freak out.
The orange was the only one that was solid color all the way through. It was really fiberous. Like pulling apart a cotton ball. The rest were just a hue to it but for sure noticeable. And those could pretty much be wiped away with a wet paper towel . I really had to take a second and even third look when I saw a lavender hue and make sure I wasn't just seeing things. Unfortunately my camera was unable to capture the color.
Yea prolly would have gotten the bleach out for that lol. After Katrina, there were so many species of mold in peoples homes that biologists came in town and were like kids in toys r us bc they were stumped by the species appearing here lol. Some even nearly discovered in our mess. If you think of a color, I've seen it in mold lol... whole walls and rooms COVERED in mold. Black, lots and lots of black, orange, yellow, dk green , light green, even a little red and of course white. Yuck lol And in only 5 days! Hence the PTSD lol
