Hi,
I recently noticed some white spots in my red eyed tree frog. (I can't say for sure if they were there before and I just now noticed them, or if they are new). From doing some research, I've heard that it could be a sign of oodinium, or that some red eyed tree frogs just naturally have white spots as part of their skin coloration. These spots are small, and seem to appear more when he is a darker shade. It doesn't look like they are raised above the surface of his skin, but it was hard to get a good angle and I didn't want to pick him up and stress him out.
Here is a picture of Wally: (You can see the largest spot is about 2/3 of the way down his body, and there are a handful of other tiny spots along his back).
I appreciate any thoughts/advice anyone could give me!
EDIT: Wow it's been a long day, I completely forgot to mention that he doesn't really appear sick in any other way. He's been eating well (about 15-20 crickets a week dusted with calcium) and is active at night and sleeps throughout the day. I did notice him shedding a few weeks ago, but he seems done with that now.
Hi,
I don't believe this is odium, and I don't believe these are normal pigmentation 'white spots" either, as those are very slightly raised and smaller. Keep an eye on them. Sometimes these little spots appear when the frog is changing coloration.
Do you see these spots when his color bright green, which is usually( daytime) when they are sleeping?
He looks good

Hi,
Thank you so much! I have only seen the spots when he is a darker color in the night/evening, not during the day when he is brighter green. Is that a good sign? He might have just been changing colors when I saw him this evening, so maybe that is it?
Thank you again for your advice!
