Default climbing wood for tree frogs

Is there any reason that one could not use bird perches (the smooth wood ones) as climbing branches for tree frogs? I know most have the little metal screw on the end, but as long as that isn't just poking out where a frog could be hurt is there any reason that they couldn't be used. I am just thinking there are long perfect bird perches for a lot cheaper than any other wood you can buy and they are nice and smooth. Ideas?

There is no reason why they can't be used. The only drawback I can see is they are limited in shape. Rubber vines are sold in pet/reptile stores, it is safe and can be shaped to need.

I would probably get a little of both. I want to have a vine as well but I want lots of natural climbing options in my tank. I saw a cool curvy one I may get. Thanks for the reply!!
