Hi here, as it is getting cold here in Hong Kong, I need a ceramic lamp for my frogs to keep them warm.
however, i accidentally dropped the ceramic lamp into the fish tank which made the lamp wet thoroughly. I immediately turned off the electricity supply and checked on it.
The lamp reflector dome can still work with other heating bulbs, but until now, I still dont dare to put the ceramic heating bulb back to use as I afraid it would explode or overheat....
The ceramic lamp is quite expensive and I dont want to spend money on it again... So can anyone tell me if I still can use the bulb?
let it dry then I would say try and test it outside the tank (were protective equipment just to be safe), that's what i did when a similar thing happened and it worked, it just depends on how long it was in the water but if the reflector dome still works hopefully the bulb is fine.

I agree, let everything dry out then test it. You can use a hair dryer on the unit to ensure it's dry before testing it.

Another drying technique if to put in in a sealed ziplock bag with some uncooked rice for a few days. This is a standard method for electronics that have taken a bath. I don't know if your ceramic light has any internal bits that could collect moisture, but this could help.
Good one. I have a collection of silica packs just for this. 3 kids with phones, gotta be prepared at all times....lol

thanks all 4 ur reply, now i think im safe to use it again
If it isn't broken already, it will be fine.
Normally a fully heated ceramic lamp will bust when cooled off instantly like you did by giving it a splash.
They can handle a lot, so i won't be surprised you can use it just fine.
