Yep! I don't think hornworms are good for putting on weight though. I think they have a good amount of nutrition, but if fed too much can cause diarrhea.
Food items should be no larger than the length between the frog's eyes.
As for how much to feed, since they are thin, I would give them as much as they will eat in 10 minutes.
I haven't used the fluker's cricket diet but it should be fine. I gut load with orange slices, carrot slices, and a cricket gut load I got from Josh's Frogs. I think they like romaine lettuce too.
Thank you I plan on ordering some worms online.
You are welcome! If you have any questions later on feel free to ask! Also, we love pics here so maybe when the little guys get settled in you could post some of the toads and enclosure?
I just feed them some crickets... They had a ball! But one of them (Camo, The only Brown One) hasn't moved or anything when all the other ones are so active and Hyper. I'm starting to get worried.
I am sorry to hear that. I don't know what the problem could be. Maybe he is still a little stressed? I wonder if they could have parasites since they are thin? Can you take a fecal sample to a vet and have it tested?
I dangled some crickets in his face and he ate them... I'm hoping it's just stress and he'll be fine in a couple of days. I'll keep you updated.
Ive used the orange cubes you bought from petsmart, they work well but u have to thro in a large amount of cubes to really get their attention to it. You pretty much have to make it impossible for them to miss otherwise they wont bother. Im glad to hear Camo started to eat again, sumtimes they jus need to get acquainted with their surroundings first. You may get mixed responses for their eating habits, i like to stay around 5 crikets (per toad) every 2-3 days, a little more or little less will be ok. Just be sure to keep an eye on how many each toad eats every feeding period. I know this can be difficult since you have 5 of them but make sure sumone doesnt get left out with 1 or 0 crikets while another is gorging itself.
So, I went to PetCo today to pick up some more Crickets and a few Wax Worms. I Bought this Calcium Powder because I was told they needed there food dusted wit it ever other feeding or two.

What I'm wondering is, is this stuff okay? Or do I need to get a totally different kind?
That is what I use I think it is pretty good stuff. You should get the Herptivite multivitamin powder too...Or some kind of quality multivitamin powder.
