I was told that earthworms are the best staple food for pacman. So I ordered some captive-breed ones the other day. Today when I received them, it worries me a little bit, even though those are CB earthworms, they still live in the soil. Wat if they are parasite carriers?
Do I have to process them before feeding apart form washing?
thx
I would say thay are fine. If they were sold as fishing bait worms id make sure they arent scented or have any dyes, but I cant see why they would contain parasites. Are you worried because they arrived in tge soil? Because thats completely normal. They need it to live.
Just splash the worm with a little dechlorinated water before you feed it and the dirt comes right off
There aren't very many parasites that are carried by earthworms. Its chemical that you need to worry about. Like Maharg said dyes, artificial scents, etc. Get q small bowl and place some de-chlorinated water in it and then grab a few paper towels. Dip the selected worm in Ty. water to rinse the soil off and then dry it a little with a paper towel. This helps remove some of the slime from the worm as well. Then offer appropriately sized pieces of the worm to your frog.
Man, the auto-correct can be bad... let me auto-correct for you lol
Here's what Grif said after Namio-correct:
Sorry Grif, my OCD just kicked in.There aren't very many parasites that are carried by earthworms. It's the chemical that you need to worry about. Like Maharg said dyes, artificial scents, etc. Get a small bowl and place some de-chlorinated water in it and then grab a few paper towels.
