    Default Proud new owner!

I got a new male-ish looking baby African bullfrog today for $35! The little guy's name is Rocky, although I was originally going to go with the name "Chunk." I will be posting some pictures as soon as I can!

I don't think my reply went thru. Where did you get this frog? How big is it? What habitat do you keep him in and what do you feed him? Will you get him a friend? Have you owned a frog before? I have FBT's and if you have questions I could help you. Sounds like you have more pets than I do! Mine came from a pet store and I was lucky to get them, the store only gets 6 in each shipment. I now cannot find any store that sells live moss. Just wondered too, how your frog is doing?

I got him at Petsmart and he's about 2 inches long. He lives in a 10-gallon tank with a coco fiber/topsoil mix, a lamp, and a water dish. I don't want to get him a friend, as that "friend" will probably wind up becoming dinner! I've kept four frogs before Rocky, and I still have all four of them. He's also doing great-he's spent the last few days eating like a horse.

I'm glad you have more than one! I have 2. I'm also glad you have a nice tank, similar to mine! Write if you want to talk over any frog stuff.

You can keep multiple pixies together as long as they are the same size.

Oh, I didn't know frogs were also known as pixies, that word alone is cute. Yes, I have 2, they're happy together. I may name my next pet pixie, I love it. I always look for cute pet names. Thanks for writing.

Pixie is short for Pyxicephalus Adspersus, or the giant african bullfrog. Not all frogs are pixies.

Okay, I have never heard this term before, and I have not found a store yet that sells different frogs. Stores are limited here. Thanks

I'll be posting some pics of Rocky soon. What's an ideal staple for an adult male? I was thinking about hissing roaches but those may be a bit too big.

I keep reading crickets and red wigglers and certain types of roaches. Hope this helps. Mine won't eat earthworms and the mealworms I heard are bad for them, they love crickets but the crickets don't last long in spite of how I house and feed them. One cricket ended up in my car! Have no idea how he got there either (laughing).
