Hey guys, I'm not sure how often should I replace the sustrates in my pacman forg tank? is every two weeks ok? or dose it depend on the size of my pacman?
I'm right now using the ground coconut fiber form Zoomed.
Thx
Every 2 weeks is probably to stressful for your frog. Every month is whats suggested, but you can likely go a week or so after that if your frog primarily uses its water bowl (changed daily) as its toilet.
Id probably play is safe and go with every month still. And disinfect the entire tank with hot water and vinegar (or amphibian safe cleaner, or VERY diluted bleach) mix. The ammonia from the frogs urine can kill your frog if it builds up to much.
THX pal, I got it. Then 1 month it is. I'll follow your advice.
remeamber to use deloranated water to fluff your subtrate
Every two weeks is ok, but will begin to become expensive. It is also the most you should change it unless something contaminates the substrate or it becomes overly saturated. No less than once a month is the best and least stressful for the frog, but they can become accustomed to substrate changes of every two weeks just don't change it any sooner than that without a reason.
Thx, guys I shall keep that in mind.
Whatever stress may be caused by changing your frogs substrate, it is not a significant amount of stress to be damaging to the frog in any way. In fact, I doubt it would affect its behavior much, if at all.
