I have two Bufo toads living in my window well. I believe both are female, one large and one small. I have two main questions. We put plants in all our window wells with mulch, I am worried that the mulch might be harmful to the toads. It's the red kind of mulch and I don't think the toads care for it much. Also, winter will be coming soon and I am concerned on how to care for them in the winter. I would like to keep them in the window well since it is big enough to meet their needs. But how do I keep them from freezing to death and the issue of snow? I've been debating covering my window well with plexiglass to keep the snow out and keep the window well somewhat warm. I live in Northern Colorado. Should I move my toads indoors? Please help.
