Recently while I was holding my frog, I heard it make lots of different noises and sounds, and began to think weather this frog is a boy?
Both males and females can make sounds. They both can make a communicating sound that sounds like a popping/clicking noise and usually their head bobs up and down slightly. They both can also Growl, hiss, and scream. Males are the only one who produce the matting call or croak. This sound is loud and unmistakable. You probably heard the release sound witch the both also can make. Its a discomfort noise.
Many frogs have that "release call" regardless of sex. Presumably it came from during the breeding season when a female got grabbed by an unwanted male and she's saying, "Let go of me!"
Or a male was grabbed by another male and he's yelling, "LET GO NOW!!!"
