Hello all I noticed that my African bullfrog spend 12 hours a day or so in his pond is this normal he eats well and his coloring is normal.
I find when the temps are right not to hot not to cold they seem to soak more I swear it seems as Rex spent 24 hours in his soak on more than on occasion I have a filtered swimming area so it worked out great

alright just checkin, yea my guy's definately healthy from what i can tell just wanted to make sure this behavior is normal
I'm hoping this behavior is normal. My two males seem to spend several days at a time soaking in their water bowls. And when they are about to shed they definitely spend more time soaking.
It's perfectly normal. Some frogs spend most of their time in the water others vice versa and everything in between.
Mine In particular is super active I can't understand them as a lazy frog he's always moving around

my female doesnt seem to soak at all...but my old female use to everynight...i think it all depends on the frog and what they like
I have a cane toad that spends all day and sometimes all night in the water side of her tank. Being a dry skinned toad I expected her to spend most of her days in the land side, but I was wrong.
Sometimes if a frog never leaves the water bowl it can be because they are doing their best to escape a mite infestation. Check your frog's skin to make sure it doesn't have mites crawling around on it. Check the substrate for mites. If you don't find any your frog is probably just a lover of the water :P
My two boys definitely don't have mites. I've had my older male ever since he was a wee froggy. I think mine just like to soak in their water and there's nothing wrong with that!
I think its down to individual frogs. I have one that's nearly totaly aquatic , one that rarely goes in water and another that splits time in and out, same temperatures and set ups.
