My daughter's Mantis passed this last week.
She was a full grown mantid, but she should have had a few more months to live (molted about 6-8 weeks ago).
Does anyone know anything about gut loading food items with carrots and mantids??? My reaserch after her death has brought about some thoughts that carrots are not a good gut load item for mantid prey....
My daughter wants another, but until I find this out and the next reptile show (2 months away) she will have to wait.
Are there no native species you could catch? Chinese mantids, though rather plain, make great pets and should live in OK if I'm not mistaken.
I have no idea if carrots could be problematic or not.
I did find her a native, but she has to release it next week when school starts. She really likes the mantid's, she handles them for hours and does so well with them!
I really want to get her a texas unicorn mantid!
Nice to see you around here again Cam! I thought you had left us lol
I went into eastivation for a while. It's been a hot summer here XD
Mantids are by far my favorite insect, your daughter has good taste :P
You do rememeber I am south of you right???? It has been far too hot and HUMID! I really think I need gills to live in Oklahoma sometimes!!!! Glad you came out ok.
