A trip to the vet revealed that Malachite had a gram negative bacterial infection. He was prescribed Ciproflaxin which was given orally once a day. The infection did clear up, however Malachite passed away not too long afterwards. The necropsy revealed that he had carcinoma of the liver which can only be diagnosed postmortem. The infection was just a secondary result of the cancer.

We have since learned that mucus in urine/feces can be caused by just about anything that irritates their intestinal tract: Bacterial infections, parasites, impaction, dehydration, malnutrition/vitamin deficiencies, etc. We really need more information, but I recommend consulting a vet.

You can make a post with the frog's information here:

Thanks for responding. My dear friend died a couple of days ago. She was 26.5 years old. :-(

I am so sorry for your loss! It is always hard to lose a pet, but I can't imagine how hard it would be to say goodbye to a companion of twenty-six and a half years.

But it sounds like she had a long, happy life and was very loved. Sincerest condolences.
