Question Going Camping... What About My Frog?

I'm going camping in early August and this is kinda bad, but I don't trust anyone to take care of my frog!! I guess it's because I love him sooo much. The only person I would even think about asking to do it (she's one of my closest friends and loves frogs) is going camping at the same time! I don't want to send him away to be cared for because that would be stressful for him and I wouldn't know the person, etc. In the past I've left my frog alone but that frog I found in my backyard and he required less tlc than my current frog, a Red Eye. So I have no idea what to do and August is getting closer and closer. Any ideas?

I have other friends but the two that would take care of him aren't available. And I don't really want to give away my town on the internet.

How long are you planning to be gone for?

Caring for a frog for a few days or even a few weeks doesn't have to be a difficult task. When I've gone away I leave simple and concise instructions for the critical tasks and lay out planned meals in different containers to make life as simple as possible for the caregiver to ensure they do what needs to be done. Pretty much anyone who can read can manage.

We're going to be gone for 5 days... I think. I understand that caring for a frog isn't rocket science and anyone can do it but I just don't know who to ask. I have prepared instructions and I am going to give them my house key so my frog can stay in my house where he's comfortable and won't get stressed. I really like your idea of laying out each meal in a little container, I'll do that.

Finally figured it out! Turns out our local pet store (family owned, not a chain) boards! And it's only 5 bucks a day!!

If you have stable humidity in the tank and hand misting is not required it shouldnt be a problem to leave the frogs on their own for those 5 days. They can manage more than that without food and i cant think of something else that is extremely necesary to be done frequently. I left mine for 6 days in the middle of july and they are perfectly fine (not retf, tho).

Oh no no no no! I disagree! I would never leave my frogs un watched for 1 day, let alone 5 or 6! I don't have anything against your discussions, but I would definatly not leave them. If something ever happened you wouldn't know until a few days after and I'm sure you wouldn't want to come home from your VACA and see your precious frog dead or injured. Since the price is so low on the boarding and it's family owned, if you trust the store and if you see that the other pets there are well taken care of then I think that would be the best way to go. If you don't want to do that, is there any neighbors near by that are older than 15-16 and are responsible? There has got to be someone you trust that can help? Good luck!

Don't worry, I would never leave him alone considering he requires such close monitoring and care. I'm definitely going to bring him to our pet store.
