Just got eggs today out of the samurai blue female. Hopefully they are fertile and should hatch by tuesday . I will post pics asap
One of my Frogs is pregnant again too x.x . Her last clutch was mostly fertile, though 3 didn't make it .
Good luck!
cant wait to see some pics
Here is the pair that was together. Should be 50% blue and then a mix of other colors
are the little black thing the eggs?
Yep those are the eggs
It's amazing how Pacmans are so various in their colourations.
I only ever get brown or black and from time to time, the occasional yellow/white morph, which I usually release anyway[at about 2-3weeks old], because no one really wants small frogs[especially these ones that sing every night, all night - although it's not always for breeding.]
I'm kind of envious Mike... lol.
how many do you think will survive out of that bunch? maybe half?
That is wicked awesome love the variety
These guys produce 500-2,000 eggs
It took me over a year to figure out how to get them to breed.
Buy a Gram scale. Bi weekly weighing of females. ( 100 gram weight gain within a week indicates she has eggs)
Get a few good males
3.1 ratio works good
Buy or make a rain chamber
(I do sell them and they work well) you can also google them and make one with plastic tubs.
Search for shops near you that have live blackworms. You will need around 2lbs for every 100 tadpoles to raise them.
Have multiple tanks, tubs or whatever you choose to raise them in. You need filters and tanks heaters.
Another thing to keep in mind is a person to sell them all to. You really don't want to hold onto a few hundred babies.
I get my babies as big as possible during tadpole size. By the time all of their legs come in and tail obsorbs they are quarter size and up. I have them all sold within a week out of the water.
You can sell a few different ways. One at a time to a hobbyist($15.00)ea. A few at a time to various pet stores($10.00)ea or 50 or more to wholesalers and dealers($4.00)ea. For normals.
The longer you keep them the more they cost.
Wow mike, you are a very successful breeder. I never knew they lay their eggs like that, very interesting and fun to see.
You sure will have your hands full once they hatch! Im hoping on breeding my new green tree frogs but their only 4 months old so i have to wait a while
Good luck and hopefully everything goes well for you!
Congrats!!!
Mike, Do you cool your frogs down? Or do you put them all together and make sure of the weight as mentioned previously?
