Hi I realize that the recommended feeding schedule is 3-4 times a week for adults, and I've been sticking to that for the last couple of weeks. I've had my frog for a little over a month, and noticed that he's getting very pudgy. Today when I moved to dangle his earthworm in front of his face, he instead lunged about 8 inches straight into the air and tried to grasp onto my hand instead. He didn't manage to latch on, but something sharp in his mouth (do they have teeth?) left a strange little circular pattern on my fingers and managed to draw blood.
Aside from the fear that he's going to develop a taste for human blood now should I be feeding him more often if he's that hungry? Should I be feeding him more than one earthworm every other day? I've attached a picture taken today, although he does tend to lose almost half his mass after he takes a poodle sized poop.
He looks perfectly healthy. your feeding him well. Remember that they hold a lot of water too which is where a lot of their "pudgy" appearance comes from.
To answer your other question Yes they do have teeth. Check out this thread http://www.frogforum.net/pacman-frogs/11109-teeth.html
If you feel you are giving him too much just don't give him as much each feeding, but he looks really good to me.
Wow. I thought that I was just being a big baby when I felt something sharp until I saw the blood. As always thanks for your help!
