Sealant question

I am going to redo my back ground and have a few questions.

I have a non toxic clear coat called triple thick that i originally used for clay, but was wondering if you thought it was safe since it is non toxic.

Also, can i use something toxic (paint) if it is completely covered in aquarium silicone or a non toxic sealant?

One more, Can i use wood or sticks from outside if i boil/clean them?

instead of boilding to clean a piece of wood found outside, I bake them.... very low oven for a couple of hours. It does not burn the wood, but will kill off anything that might be hiding within it. I think that boiling breaks down the wood.

would a spray paint under aquarium silicone be toxic still for a back ground? I am going to cover it with husk but didn't want the white syrofoam to shine through the husk.

If it is completely covered with 100% aquarium sealant, it is fine.
