how to tell male or female and why does my african dwarf frog have a little tail on the end of its body?

There are 4 species of African dwarf frogs, two of which are commonly available - Hymenochirus curtipes and H. boettgeri. Sexing is fairly easy if the frogs are mature. Females are usually larger and have a "swollen" cloaca (vent).

Males will also have a small gland, like a pimple, behind their front legs. Males will also sing.
