Had two Great Basin Spadefoot toads in my pond last year and one this year. It was singing last night then this morning I found him dead in my pond..... Not sure what caused the death. No visible signs on the body of trauma. The only recent change was two visiting ducks that churned up the water lily which was just starting send up shoots. As far as we know the water quality is very good with a small gold fish and many song birds drinking from it daily. No use of fertilizers or pesticides in the yard. Very disappointed!
Yeah, that really stinks. Always so hard to ID the reason since so many things could have happened.
I hope some more move in for you to enjoy.
