I just finished cleaning and changing the substrates of all my frog's enclosure and took some shots of Akhdar to finally confirm if he really is a boy and
how often do I need to change their substrate?
Thank you all for looking and thank you in advance for all your inputs.
Nice "puffy" frog you got
did it call yet
I'd call that female until it calls, or gets over 5"

Changing substrate can be easily determined by the smell. If it smells like dirt it's good; if it smells like a swamp pool of infested fecal matter, then it's time to change.
I guess I have to consider what you've just said Bobby.
Is it ok If I change their substrate on a monthly basis or Is it too stressful for them? Honestly, I don't wait for them to get smelly to consider changing their substrate.I clean them almost regularly every month thinking that there may already be a lot of pathogens lurking under my frog's enclosure.
Every 1-2 months is fine (or if the dirt is 'muddy' or smells as previously stated); they won't get stressed out from that. They won't like it when they have to get moved out to get their habitat cleaned, but I always just soak mine in a tub of water and he seems to enjoy it.
