Hi,
I am a complete newbie to this site, so Hi everyone, my wife and I are desperate to become pyxie
owners but are struggling!
I am trying to find somewhere in the UK to buy African Bullfrogs, but not having any success!!
This is going to be my first venture into the world of frogs so am excited, but cannot find anyone in the uk selling them!!
If anyone has any ideas where i can get them (preferably by christmas) please let me know.
I live in the southwest but can travel within reason!
Also I am looking at a 4ftx2ftx1 1/2ft tank, is this big enough?
Thanks
Paul
hi i notice your from taunton not far from me im in bristol.... not sure about african bull frogs have you asked any of your local garden centres/pet shop, exotic pet places to see if they can order you any in? just a thought?
You don't need a tank that big - these frogs don't move very much. You should be able to order one over the internet if you can't find one locally, though there should be options in or around Bristol. If you can't find any, there are plenty of online sellers in the UK. Just make sure you know which species you're getting - Giants are Pyxicephalus adspersus. Dwarves are Pyxicephalus edulis. Some vendors either (a) mix them up by accident or (b) have Dwarves that no one wants and so they sell them as Giants, hoping that you are none the wiser.

Welcome to Pollywog.co.uk i think these guys have it if they dont try pac mans or american bullfrogs
African Bullfrogs, Clawed Frogs, Salamanders, Newts, Bearded Dragons,
American bullfrogs are totally different ball of wax. They need large enclosures.
And Pacman frogs are rather boring compared to a Pyxie, although they are generally more colourful.

Hooray,
Thanks for all the assistance and advice, I have now found a chap in yorkshire who is coming my way with an 18mnth old Bullfrog on the weekend, i am so excited i feel like a big kid.
Have bought a big vivarium, 60w ceramic lamp, thermostatic timer for lamp, bedding material....
does anyone know of anything else I should get to be prepared?!!
Thanks
Paul
Are you sure it is a giant?
Fairly sure, it is from a chap who emailed me on the forum, is Pyxicephalus adspersus. Have been told it is approximately 18months old and 4-5" from snout to vent which seems to fit other rmeasurements I have seen on here. Have seen pics of parents and they are massive!!!
Have spent last couple of hours getting terrarium set up, hopefuly will post pics on weekend!
