Default Moving and taking frogs with you.. Has anyone done it?

I currently live in San Juan and i got a job offer to come to the states and im really thinking about taking it. My question is whats a good way of sending my pacs over when i move? I dont have any family that is near by to the location i plan on moving to so i can send them to them. What would you guys recommend? I dont want to have to sell them and then start all over again. Thanks in advance guys, hopefully i can get a solution.

Some pet stores will assist in shipping (as far as receiving since you don't have anyone waiting for you). I'm guessing airlines wouldn't let you carry them onto the plane.

They might let him bring them on the plane. I saw a guy bring a Lobster from Maine onto a plane.

    lol, really?

I'd give it a try ribbits- call the arline. If they'll let you bring it on board, it would minimize box time and stress, greatly increasing the chance for survival.

Call up Anson Wong. Worlds best smuggler.lol He will tell you how to hide animals in carry-on luggage or how to tape them to your body.

If you are in US Territory you can ship them back to the states without having to get permits. Just pack them like a normal reptile shipment with heat or cool packs and ship them with the same airline you fly if possible.

Im going to look into it if i put them on the same flight, it makes sense if you can since people probably take there dogs with them aswell, why not frogs. Hopefully i wont have to sell them all again then start over in the states.

Ok, it will be easy to import then. You wont need any permits.

Flying from PR is just like flying state side...no customs. You should be able to fly them with you if you pack them into your carry on. This is my guess...good luck and if you can't maybe someone on here lives in the town you are relocating too and would help you out!!!

I know this thread is a bit old but I have the same question about moving and flying with frogs.

I wonder if they need to x-ray them if they're in the carry on luggage, and is that harmful for them??

I've never had to move of fly with my frogs, but as long as they aren't thrown around they should be ok. X-Ray should be fine too. Its only minimum exposure so should be the same as if you took your frog the the Herp Vet for an X-Ray.

    Smile Good Container

I use to buy tropical fish in Seattle and bring them home but that was before 9/11. I would put them in a container with air holes and a heat pack if you need it. I would have the container deep enough so that security might ask you to open the container. You don't want them to jump out.

I really, really don't want to derail the thread, because it's a topic I never thought about but which we all may someday need to consider...

    But...

A lobster on the plane? A lobster straight from Maine? Sorry, rhyming is fun.. Anyway, are you saying this was a guy who wanted to eat a Maine lobster and brought it as a carry on? Or was it a pet he liberated from a crab shack?

Did it have rubber bands? Lol what a bizarre thing to see!

Anyway back on topic, the person who said a local pet store might help, they really might. I recently found a local, small time reptile shop and the guy there COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER OR MORE HELPFUL! He had a real enthusiasm and love for reptiles and amphibians and if I were moving here from elsewhere, I think that guy would help for sure. Making friends with a local place is a good idea. Maybe if you tell them you will be buying a bunch of frog supplies from them if they help you, they might? Good luck! And good luck on the job!

Edit: Sorry guys, didn't realize how old this thread was. I'm new here so I'm gonna use that defense and skeedaddle. Toodle-ooo chaps!

Wow, what a good question! This thread is full of questions I never knew I had! Every day I spent on FrogForum is an exercise in humility, because every time I think I know a little something, I realize I don't know jack!

On my flight back to the states from Nova Scotia there was a guy with a box of lobsters that he checked as his carry on. Honestly though, flying is stressful enough (to me anyways) that I wouldn't want to carry frogs too.
