Question for frog lovers - I have been feeding my La Frog (White's) large crickets only, dusted with calcium. Does he need anything else? Do you feed yours anything other than crickets?
Thank you,
Max
Whites can eat a wide verity of things including earth worms, cultivated cockroaches, pinky mice, guppies, feeder fish, and a few other things. However crickets are the best thing for them. If your gut loading (feeding your crickets vitamin fortified food and water) and dusting once or twice a week with calcium then your crickets are the best thing for La Frog. Pinkies and any fish should be treats only, though, because they are very high in fat and not as nutritious.
Thank you! :-)
You could try mealworms

Crickets are just fine for your White's. However, I would have to disagree a bit that crickets are the most nutritious. I would have to say that roaches would be the ultimate food for your frog. I feed my White's (Kiwi) a variety of insects which include, but are not limited to: large crickets, superworms, waxworms, trout worms, nightcrawlers, dubia roaches and turk roaches.
Crickets are fine but hardly the best. Roaches generally are far superior nutrition-wise, especially their much better fosfor/protein-ratio (which is much worse in crickets).
EDT: I somehow missed Toxxxickitten's post, so I'm basically just agreeing with him.
Interesting... So (without having seen one of any of the aforementioned worms), would I just drop a worm into terrarium and let him be, or do I need to put him somewhere that it couldn't get out of (i.e. a small dish)?
Thanks,

Great. Thanks for clarifying. Cheers,
