Default Worried about my red eyed tree frog

Hi, I've had 2 red eyed tree frogs for a couple of months now. I believe they're male and female because one has grown quite a lot bigger than the other since i got them, despite them both eating well, and the smaller one often calls at nighttime. However, recently I haven't been hearing the calls as often, and I've noticed my male doesnt always wake up and hunt at nighttime, as when I wake up in the night hes in exactly the same position he was all day. The temperature is about 80 F in the day and about 72 at night, and the humidity is usually about 70%, as I spray every day with water treated with conditioner. I don't know if this is normal behaviour? I don't think it can be the conditions he's in, because the female is awake an eating as soon as the lights go out, so I'm wondering if theres something else that might have gone wrong here? any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi boa10jeh,
The heat and humidity settings are perfect!
Sometimes they do this. Just keep an eye on things.

Do they have a soaking dish? What are you feeding them?
Are you dusting their food w/ vits and calcium?

How does he look , to you ?

You could post a pic of both frogs and the enclosure?

    Hi Lynn,
Thanks, that has made me feel quite a lot better! They have a dish in there, but i have never actually seen them use it, and I use a fogger to increase the hunidity a couple of times a day as well. They're being fed on gut loaded crickets dusted with calcium every other feed and a multivitamin once a week. To be honest with you, he doesn't look any different to how he usually does, he's quite dark in colour, compared to my female, but always has been. I got them both out the other day to clean the terrarium out and his eyes were bright, and he was just as active as he usually is when disturbed. I will try and get a picture tomorrow, because the lights are out now, and I don't want to disturb him further (I live in the UK), but I will have a quick look through my camera and see if i have any existing photos for you.

Maybe he got stress out from the cleaning?
I try to clean in bits n' pieces- while they are asleep.

right, ive had a look through the archives and found a selection of photos for you. Sorry the first 2 are a bit blurry, they're from my phone, but they're both the male in question when I first got him, and when I had no worries about him. Ignore the dates on the others, I haven't reset my camera in a while, but the 3rd is the pair of them taken the other day (when i had started to worry about him) and the 5th is the enclosure taken at the same time (you can see them in the left hand corner, the female is the one thats awake) the 4th is the pair of them a couple of weeks ago, and the 6th is the female on the same occasion. Sorry it took me a while, had some trouble figuring out how to post pictures :P

    Hello again,
I have taken some pictures of both of the frogs today, the female was more active than the male when i got them out, but he was far from lethargic, and i couldnt find anything obviously wrong with him on closer inspection.Name: 043.jpg

The first 5 pictures are the male that i have concerns about, and the 5 after that are the female who lives with him. The last one is him when i put him back, as this was the easiest way to get a photo of him from underneath. Thanks again for the advice!

Your frogs are beautiful and look healthy. Hmmm.... I'll read through again and see if anything is missing.

    Btw, your vivarium is gorgeous!

Thanks Heather, that has reassured me, although I don't really understand why hes behaving like he is, seems like there must be a reason for it.
Thanks, that vivarium is kinda my pride and joy, you wouldnt believe how much effort has gone into that over the past few months!

Thanks Lynn, no these pictures were only taken hours ago, I just havent corrected the date on my camera, don't worry, they are current! Yeah, when I first got them they were both really jumpy when handled, they've calmed down a bit now, but of course, I don't handle them unless absolutely necessary, as I know its not good for them. I will keep an eye on how he does, and keep you posted, hopefully its just a weird phase hes going through! thanks to you both for all your advice and help with putting my mind at rest!
