Hi i am looking for someone that will be able to give me advice on frog genetics.
I have spawned some Albino litoria aurea. but it seems that the gene is lacking something. because when the tadpole get close to morfing the develop deformed (bent) spines.
I am pretty sure this is linked to the albino gene and is not from an outside party i.e food, water ect, because i have raised normal tadpoles under the same conditions will next to no deformities and have heard of simliar stories from others
any advice would be great
I'm hoping in a year or two to start breeding my Aurea's. However, I did buy a couple of Aurea taddies that both ended up with twisted spines and dying, as far as I know they were normal colour, not albinos - though I don't know the parentage, so they may have come from Albino stock. Good luck with working out what it might be.
If they where from the pet shop then it was probably poor diet and poor water. new zealand pet shops are not very good when it comes to reptiles and Amphibians
