Hey Everyone!
We just got this little guy about a week ago. We named him Dill! And I just love him to bits..
We have him in a 10 gallon tank. We do have a 30 gallon high tank that I can use for when he gets bigger but since he's so tiny I thought this would be nice. I have a layer of moss on top of eco earth substrate..He has things to climb on and cork wood to hide under. And a small swimming pool. We have a heat light on his tank. His heat stays around 70 and the humidity is around 60 or so. Please chime in on what you think I'm doing wrong
I do have some ?'s though:
Anyway you can tell me how old he is?
During the day he is like a blueish green but at night he gets kinds brown down his back.
Tonight he is just hanging out and his mouth will hang open for a little. Is that normal?
Thanks for any help!!!
Dill looks lovely, DM!! Dill will LOVE the 30 gal btw.
I've been taking care of amphibians for years, and I'm always terrible at guessing age, so I'll skip that one lol
The color changing is fine, no worries there.
and the opened mouth thing is probably Dill shedding. You'll start to notice the skin shedding more as Dill gets older.
Thanx for the reply! And what does DM stand for? lol!
DayzMommie...
That should be normal for now although mine ate when I took him home but he could be just adjusting to his new home! Give him a week!
Well I tried the glass bowl trick..And he sat in there with the cricket for a bit and then he gobbled him up..So I guess I shouldn't worry so much..Just love this little guy..He was laying in his bath for a bit now he's on a branch looking the cutest!
Sorry, my eyes automatically saw DayzMommie and thought it was your name. Sorry Susan, lolol
Anycroaks, glad to hear Dill ate. I am pretty much on a "feed by hand" basis with my White's, but usually with new frogs I just pop the crickets in and keep an eye on them. I am sure Dill will be just fine.
