    Default murky water help

So as some of yall know I am in the process of setting up an exo terra 24x18x24x, I have the diy misting, with a 760gph pump, about 4inches of water to make the pump work and above that an eggcrate false bottom and a fiberglass screen to keep the eventual substrate out of the false bottom. Today I went to go run the misting system so the water isn't set standing and the water in the false bottom was murky, milky even, does anyone know why?

How long have you had the water set up for? Do you have anything in the water yet? (fish/aquatic plants etc)

Does it feel like surfaces under the water are covered in slime? Brown algae is a common problem in newly established aquariums. It can cause cloudy water and clear/brownish slime. It can also be cause by low light conditions. Do a water change if you can, otherwise get some lucky bamboo to grow in your water. I've heard the bamboo is an effective way to fight brown algae. (I am currently fighting brown algae in one of my tanks, and that was the advice given to me by a friend. I have not yet tried, so I can't say if it works or not.)

So? That doesn't stop brown algae from growing. I said it *COULD* be from low light. Or it could just be because it's a new tank and there aren't any other plants in there competing with the brown algae to keep it in check. I doubt reptisafe has an algae killer in it.

hmmmm.... hard to say. Your water is probably just unstable because you have no substrate, no plants, no nothing.

try doing some water changes, good just be something clouding it up. maybe the eggcrate, the screen, something. Fill and drain, fill and drain, fill and drain. Also i can't really tell from your picture but does the floor layer of your eggcrate go all the way to the edges of the tank because i noticed you dont have screen on the supports
