nooooo thank you! I bred crickets several years ago. Their entire bin had to be cleaned every single week or it would smell like someone died. At least with the roaches I only have to clean their bins once every few months.
I'll just use my baby dubia roaches. They can't climb glass. I'll just have to step up breeding efforts (in other words; add lots of orange slices, increase their temperature, decrease light) with the dubias because I don't have nearly as many of them as I do the lobster roaches.
I might try breeding crickets again this summer, but if I do their bin is going to be on the back porch. Man those things stink!
I know this thread is a couple years old. However I have to tell about a Roach Barrier that works to prevent escapes as well as prevent invasive insects eg:spiders, mites gnats from entering It is SAFE and not toxic like vaseline or petroleum based gels. It Works To prevent melting & Running as well as too many applications of messy toxic petroleum laden Vaseline
Use packing tape, teflon tape, foil tape or any other line of defense and add A product that Works as a Super Slick Roach & Insect Boundary & Barrier It Works by keeping Roaches in their colonies and keeps unwanted pests out of your colonies. It Works better than frequent messy re-applications of vaseline and may be used as a first line defense against escapes or invasions into your roach colonies as well as increasing the effectiveness of an already established barrier..
CONTAIN Roach & Bug Barriert works like it should. It is SAFE MADE FROM FOOD GRADE INGREDIENTS, does not melt run or drip like vaseline and can stand up to high heat.
