I am finally getting my samurai blue male in 2 weeks. I will be pairing him with my proven blue female. Will post babies for sale when availible.
Ya me too! the blues combined are suppose to make some of the new variety mutations.
He seems to have good stuff. I didnt like the green apples very much. 3 of the ones i kept all past away. They all had some sort of problem with them and were really week.
That's the problem with experimenting with creatures and their DNA. Honestly man shouldn't do that. There is a lot of risk of bad mutations like deformities and weakened immune system. The creatures they do this with still need a home though. After that creature didn't ask to be made. Sorry I'm rambling on. I just see no benefit in it. I admit I love the colors but its sad when they have physical problems that show up after metamorphysis or after they reach adulthood. Hopefully this will not be the issue.
Yes, and sometimes those mutations (i.e. Parrot fish deformed mouth) is what makes them popular with humans... go figure!
If viable; 1st generation hybrids tend to be very healthy. That can quickly go away when breeders try to lock in or augment some characteristics by retro breeding back with either parent or between brothers and sisters. Even if "successful" in their goals; resulting hybrids have weak immune systems with lot's of health problems or live extremely short lives. Sadly; as long as breeders can sell animals for 10X or more than regular species ($300 Pacman's or $1000 and up cichlid fish) this situation is not going to stop.
Mikesfrogs: Looking forward to seeing your new male and eventually some interesting babies from pair. Do you know if the parents are from genetically close or distant lines?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Can't wait to see the babies! Baby greens are cute, I can't imagine blues!
Thanks. Blues are pretty nice looking. The green apples i got were not in the best condition. They were kept cold and fluid built up in there lungs. So thats what caused them to die.
