Thread: Misting?

  1. #1

    Default Misting?

I've been thinking about getting a misting system from my White's Tree Frogs. Any suggestions? The heater has been drying out my house lately and my younger tree frogs do not seem smart enough to find the water bowl... Possibly because the cage is quite long.

Most are around a hundred bucks, but the best in my opinion is MistKing. You can buy from them directly, the starter package is 99.99 I believe

Tell me about it. It's the only reason I haven't gotten one yet. You could try a fogger, Zoo Med repti-fogger is popular. That's like 50 bucks.

Yeah, they are really cheap nowdays! The mist king is the best rainsystem according to most people. Exo-terra have one as well.

If you want a fogger, I really recommed Zoomed's ReptiFogger.

I'm actually looking into making my own fogger/misting system.. I found this page that shows 4 easy steps to make one out of an ultrasonic humidifier that you can buy from walgreens. If you want more info, or if it sounds like something you're interested in just let me know and I could send you the link to the page. Ppl have said that it works better than a store bought one.

[QUOTE=Shanny;89855]How to make a Reptile Fogger | Reptile Overload

    Hi,
    This does look very interesting.
I wonder if the tubing ( 1/2 ") and pipes could be a little smaller.
I have been wanting to do get a mister as well.
However, if I were to get a MistKing it would require putting a HOLE in the screen lid of my enclosure. Yikes!

It winds up being only about 10 bucks away from the reptifogger when you do them yourself, but it's completely up to you.

    Good point- Dalton,
I think I will call MistKing and see if there is a solution to a hole in my screen lid.
You would think they have a solution for this?
Plus, I like the idea of just putting it into a bucket or small tank.
    Probably cleaner too.
I could plop a little heater into the bucket or tank for during our cooler months?

Yes, I know it's not exceptionally cheaper than buying one... But I read many things about how people say they think the humidifier one works better and lasts longer.
Yeah I was wondering the same thing as well about the tube size and all that.. I was going to buy a humidifier and then see if I could measure it up with some smaller PVC connector and smaller rubber tubing.

    Yes it does, lol!

It would be nice to have. I've just been misting 3x/day and prn, and checking the hydrometer often.

I had to pack up the kids and three tanks this past weekend bc I don't have a mister or humidifier either. Me in the back seat with 3 frog tanks, lol! I'm sure I looked pretty silly. UTH cords from all directions and them all covered in a dark fleece blanket, lol! It would definitely be easier to keep them home, that's for sure. Thank goodness they didn't stress too badly.

Has anyone here actually tried to turn a humidifier into a tank humidifier? If you have or do, I'd love to hear how it goes.

    Thanks!

I have not done so myself, but I'm sure there's plenty of information out there on how to do it. I know that it's quite common here in Sweden to do that, since the cheapest foggers (not misters) are about 115 USD.

Look up rephibiankid on YouTube. He has a video on how to make a reptile fogger with a humidifier.
