I had to get cat food today. Sometimes I go to a small pet shop very near by.
Today, the kid that works there was excited to tell me that " we got a Red Eyed Tree Frog!" ( he knows I have REs)
OMG- This poor( adult size) frog was in a mini cage 10X10, without heat, no water, dry cedar wood shavings on the bottom of the enclosure and no plants( not even plastic a one)
I nearly had a heart attack! Needless to say- we had a nice talk.
Rather than insulting him (and thinking about the frog ONLY) I thought about how we could solve the problem.
No joke! Together, we changed the entire enclosure.
By the time I left- the wood chips were removed ,the substrate was changed, a soaking dish was in the bottom of the enclosure , a plastic plant was put in, and the enclosure was misted.
Thank goodness, the poor little guy just slept on the glass through the entire thing.
But still - There is an image of him glued to my brain

You should get him!
Oh-- Dalton,
I know , It's terrible. Makes me sick.
I was so looking forward to making an enclosure for a pair of Amazon Milk frogs over the winter.
I have gotten myself into trouble so many times. Most of the pets I have owned were rescued.
If I went back to get him, he would have to be in quarantine - for ever ! God knows if he is even captive bred?
He would need a stool check ( more than once) . I did this a year ago for another RE - he was all scratched up and loaded w/ parasites.
He was really sick. By the time I got done w/ vet fees etc it was $$$$.
There are 2 baby Amazons Milk froglets ( somewhere ) just waiting.
