Smile Best way to feed gray tree frog crickets

    Hi,
I've been taking my gray tree frogs out of the vivarium to feed them crickets. But this is probably causing undue stress for them. I have leaf litter so I am afraid the crickets will hide underneath and never get eaten by the frogs. What's the best way to give crickets to my frogs?

I keep live terrarium moss in my RETF tank and I just put crickets in the tank.. I would have thought the crickets could burrow into the moss, but they don't.. Haha I think they are just too dumb.
But my RETF's seem to enjoy hunting for there food. I have watched to make sure they could get them and they always find them. I believe frogs just have that natural instinct to find and hunt there food.
Also I've seen other people put a small glass bowl in there terrarium and put crickets in there. The frogs can jump in and catch them and the crickets are so dumb they don't even try jumping out.
I believe there is a forum about just that topic, the glass bowl thing, on here.. I cannot remember where I found it.
But that seems like a good idea, you might want to try

I feed them with tweezers and they always eat. I crush the head and hold it in front of them. The head usally pops off cause they take the food with such force. I've done this with them since they morphed so I'm not sure how well an older one would accept this method. They take all their food this way. I hand pick which cricket, worm, or roach they get to insure proper size and that the bug itself is well feed. A little anal? Well yes, but then I only have 2 frogs, 2 toads, 3 cats & one husband to tend to.

Are your crickets alive when you crush the head? Don't think I could do that. In any case, got 6 little tree frogs so that would take me a while to feed. Thanks kueluck for your advice tho!

Yes they are, I just like to make sure they don't turn around the bit the frogs. Since I have 4 amphibians it only takes me about 30 min. per day to feed them all.
