My Fire belly toad has been extremely lethargic, wont eat, and will barely move, and I noticed its toes and legs are twitching slightly. Is there anything I can do for it? I don't think the poor guy is going to last much longer.
A vet trip is in order. Did this come on suddenly or has it been progressing over time? I believe twitching toes is a symptom of calcium deficiency. Have you been dusting the toads food? I have heard soaking the animal in a pedialyte (yes the kind you give kids) dilution may help w dehydration and lethargy but I am not certain that is what is going on. I doubt it would hurt the toad. It is always wise to have a vet lined up who knows the care these animals require BEFORE getting the animal. That way if something happens, you are not scrambling to find one and figure out what to do in a hurry. I hope everything turns out ok, please let us know.
