New to the frog world

My name is Heather, I'm the new owner of two little frogs - Yoda is a quiet (except when singing) White's Tree Frog and Kamakazi is a crazy little Cuban tree frog that likes to bounce all over his aquarium. I look forward to learning more about these little guys from you veterans!

I haven't been successful getting Kami's photo, but here's Yoda..

Welcome to the Forum! The only problem with a great picture like that is that we are going to expect more! There are a lot of great fellow frog and toad owners coming together on this site, so I'm sure you will learn plenty. For those of us who aren't owners of White's Tree Frog, we still look forward to any and all pictures. Thank you for sharing!

Welcome aboard. I hate to be the fly in the ointment, but are these two frogs housed together?

Currently, yes, but this is going to change this week. We purchased them from PetSmart and they told us that they could be housed together w/o trouble, but we realized that if we don't separate them soon, Yoda will be much bigger than Kami, making him look more and more like lunch. Right now they're approx the same size, but that won't be the case for long.

Just to let you know Cuban treefrogs ARE toxic, so the sooner you can get them separated the better.
Just a rule of thumb, you really shouldn't mix amphibian species. The reasons being they can poison each other and a lot of them are wild caught so they carry pathogens from where they were collected. I suspect your White's is Indonesian, so it will have parasites and other pathogens that would be found in the Indonesian side of New Guinea, to which the Cuban will not have any immunity to. The Cuban was most likely wild caught in the Miami, Florida area and it would have the parasites and pathogens that would be found there, to which the White's has no immunity to. I would get a fecal float done and have them treated for gastrointestinal parasites as soon as you can. So you will need to schedule an appointment with an amphibian qualified veterinarian.

Also most employees in pet stores, especially the big chain ones, don't know too much.

Thanks for the info - I hadn't read that on the other sites I've been reading - they were more concerned about the carnivorous nature that both frog varieties posessesed which is what was prompting our getting a second terrarium. Interestingly, they were housed in the same tank in the petstore as well.

Yeah petstores will often make mistakes like that. When you separate them i would recommend taking them to a specialist vet with a fecal sample.
