Default I think the red eye sold to me as a female is a male.

ugh. I was at a reptile show and bought a "female" retf because my male was being all dominant and showy, and I just saw him doing the dominant "shaking thing" and then trying to throw my "female" off a branch. Both were calling. Is three males and no females going to end up badly? Might there be a chance this one really is a female? :/ I didn't think females could call.

They don't call. You have a female. These breed best in pairs to the best of my knowledge.

I have three males and two females. The males calling in competition gets the group going. Although one male is more dominant and gets the girls. I have never witnessed any physical aggression between then. It all seems like a show.

IME they breed best in male heavy groups where the female has the opportunity to choose a mate.

Yeh they need the competion from other males calling to breed well. More than one male works best.

Getting a female should be the easy part. But the males are only useful (when breeding) if you can manage to get her belly full of eggs first. That's easier said than done (in my experience).

I wasn't really trying to get them to breed as much as directing my dominant male's attention to somewhere other than throwing my little male to the ground. I feel so bad for the little one!
