As someone who has kept tarantulas for some years, I'm all too familiar with an animal being stressed out by its food--especially when they're young.
I cannot how many times I have exclaimed...
*with newbie hat firmly atop her head* is moss bad for them?
Are they likely to eat it and get impacted--especially when prey hides in there, I imagine?

Yeah, rubbing the worm on his/her lips should do the job. Sometimes you have to do that with young our stubborn eaters, anyway. :p
