    I changed the water yesterday and I can clearly see the skin on the stump has pulled off, so it's exposing muscle and bone.
    To my shock he was trying to get away from me, I took that as a good sign...

    Are you near any water?
    You'll typically see lots of juvenile frogs close to ponds, swamps, streams, any fresh water where there aren't any fish.

    It's really difficult to id tads, trust me I've tried for years and I've been wrong more than right, but narrowing down where you are and what species are in your area helps.

    Btw youve got an american toad Buford Americans aka common toad and probably is full size and a lil chubby, so looks good and healthy:)

    Looks fairly chubby and a good size I definitely say he's at least a yr or more, probably more. If he's recently been wc (wild caught) he'll be stressed for a while and will rarely take hand held...

    Ive had a couple incidents of leg injuries, there's so many frogs and toads where I am they tend to get stepped on frequently. Anyway you can try splinting the leg, its not easy but I've seen pics...

    If its a male toad, he'll "chuckle" when you touch or hadle him, he'll be smaller than a female, some as adults are just small.
